Aztec Gems Deluxe review

Aztec Gems Deluxe is a payline slot from 2020 whose bonus is built on money symbols, not on free spins. Four of them landing at once start a respin round in which only those symbols stay on the board. If the board is completely filled with them, one more step awaits: either a multiplier on the whole win or a wheel with bigger multipliers and jackpots. The studio publishes neither a max win nor a volatility label, so this review is short on ceiling figures.

Lines and the Wild

Wins are paid on paylines from left to right on adjacent reels. The Wild appears on every reel and substitutes for most other symbols. There is no tumble, no ante and no bonus buy in the data we hold, and the catalogue records no free spins either. All of the game's character is in the money symbols.

The Money symbol

The Money symbol can land on every reel. Each one takes a random value from a predefined set, or it carries a Mini or Minor jackpot value. So a single money symbol is already a small prize, shown on the symbol itself, before any feature starts.

Four or more of them landing together trigger the Money Respin feature.

How the Money Respin runs

The respins start after all line wins have been paid. The ordinary symbols fade away and only the symbols that triggered the feature remain. The normal reels are swapped for special ones that contain only money symbols and empty spaces.

The studio's rules give a starting number of respins, but the text we hold cuts off before the count, so we do not state it.

The finishing step

According to the studio, landing money symbols in all positions during the bonus randomly triggers another feature. It has two outcomes. In the first, a multiplier of 2x to 10x is applied to the total win. In the second, a wheel is spun to award larger multipliers or one of four jackpot values. We have no figures for the wheel, so the review does not describe its prizes.

Return and neighbours

Aztec Gems Deluxe has one RTP on record, 96.5%. The house edge is 3.5%, so a long run costs about $35 per $1,000 wagered. In a 100-spin session the average cost is $0.70 at a $0.20 bet, $3.50 at $1 and $17.50 at $5, which means $500 wagered.

The earlier Aztec Gems from 2018 lists 96.52%. Several other 2020 games share the 96.5% figure: Cowboys Gold, John Hunter and the Book of Tut, Pyramid King, Release the Kraken and Super 7s. Mysterious Egypt also lists 96.5% and is rated High.

Pros

  • Money symbols carry visible prizes, including Mini and Minor values
  • A finishing step with a 2x to 10x multiplier or a wheel
  • A 96.5% RTP and a 3.5% house edge
  • Free official demo available

Cons

  • No max win or volatility label is published
  • The number of respins is not in the text we hold
  • No free spins, so players expecting that round will not find one

Verdict

Aztec Gems Deluxe swaps free spins for a Money Respin and a finishing wheel or multiplier. The 96.5% RTP gives a 3.5% house edge, but with no max win or volatility published we cannot say how large the swings are. The free demo is the best way to see how often four money symbols appear. Whatever it shows, treat the game as paid entertainment with a fixed budget.
