Wicked Grin review
Wicked Grin is a Hacksaw Gaming slot set in a black-and-white world where a character called Boney Bill hides coins behind a toothy smile. Hacksaw released it on 8 October 2026. The headline RTP is 96.27%, the open RTP database records Medium volatility, and Hacksaw lists a max win of 10,000x the bet. A free Wicked Grin demo plays on this page, with no account needed.
How to play Wicked Grin: all-scatter wins and expanding reels
Hacksaw calls the win type all-scatter, so results do not follow paylines. The action is built around the bottom row. When a Wicked Grin symbol lands there, it expands and turns every symbol on its reel into either a Coin or a Multiplier.
A Multiplier applies its value to the Coins above it. It also reaches the Coins in the rows above on the neighbouring reels. A Multiplier revealed by a Wicked Grin symbol can go up to x20, and Diamond Coins can show values up to 500x.
A Super Wicked Grin does one more job. When it expands, any ordinary Wicked Grin symbols on the adjacent reels expand from wherever they currently sit, so one landing can set off a short chain across the board.
Wicked Grin free spins: how to trigger them
The bonus symbols follow the same bottom-row rule. When at least one FS or Super FS symbol is on the bottom row, each one expands to cover its whole reel. The number of free spins is worked out by adding up the numbers shown on the positions beside each expanding FS symbol, and the studio gives a range of 5 to 30 spins.
Which bonus opens depends on the symbol. A regular FS symbol starts Stash N Stack, and a Super FS symbol starts Coin Craze.
Stash N Stack
Opened by at least one expanding FS symbol, with 5 to 30 free spins. A Stash sits above each reel and multiplies the Coin values that land on that reel, so a reel with a high Stash is where the bigger results can form.
Coin Craze
Opened by at least one expanding Super FS symbol, also with 5 to 30 free spins. Coin Collectors save every Coin value and hold them until the end of the bonus, so the total builds across the round instead of being paid out spin by spin.
Wicked Grin RTP and versions
Hacksaw lists four RTPs: 96.27%, 94.32%, 92.28% and 86.28%. The house edge ranges from 3.73% to 13.72%. Casinos choose the version, so the same game can cost more at one site than another. The info screen inside the game shows which one is running.
At the headline 96.27%, $1,000 wagered costs about $37.30 on average. At 86.28% it costs about $137.20. A 100-spin session at $1 costs $3.73 or $13.72, depending on the version, and a session at $5, or $500 wagered, costs $18.65 or $68.60.
Wicked Grin max win and volatility
The max win listed by Hacksaw is 10,000x the bet. Hacksaw rates volatility 3 out of 5, in line with the Medium label in the open RTP database. The studio has not published a hit rate.
Le Sortudo and Sand and Ashes also list a 96.27% RTP with Medium volatility. Vending Machine lists 96.28% and 5,000x, so Wicked Grin offers a higher listed ceiling at nearly the same return.
Who Wicked Grin suits
Because multipliers and Diamond Coins carry the largest values, the biggest results depend on those pieces lining up on the same reels. A Medium rating suggests a middle path between small frequent returns and rare large ones. Try the free demo first to see how often the bottom row triggers an expansion, then decide on a bet that fits the house edge of your version.
Pros
- Reels expand into Coins and Multipliers up to x20
- Two bonus games with 5 to 30 free spins each
- Diamond Coins can show up to 500x
- Free official demo available
Cons
- Four RTP versions, with a 13.72% house edge at 86.28%
- The studio does not publish a hit rate
- The spin count in the bonus depends on summed numbers, so it is hard to predict
Verdict
Wicked Grin ties its action to the bottom row: Wicked Grin symbols expand into Coins and Multipliers, and FS symbols set the length of two different bonus rounds. The headline RTP is 96.27%, volatility is Medium, and the listed ceiling is 10,000x. With lower versions at 94.32%, 92.28% and 86.28%, check the info screen before playing, and use the demo to judge the pace.
