Sweet Alchemy review
An alchemist with a sweet tooth casts the spells in this 2018 cluster game from Play'n GO. Candies and chocolate-covered symbols fill a 5 x 5 grid, and every symbol in a winning cluster counts towards a meter that releases those spells. A separate chocolate bonus pays a multiple of the bet, and a treasure chest returns a share of past winnings. Volatility is rated Medium, which suits the game's steady, meter-driven pace.
Clusters that melt
A win needs a cluster of four or more matching candies. Paid clusters melt away and the candies above slide down into the empty places, which can complete new clusters in the same round.
Nothing about the grid relies on paylines. What matters is how many symbols take part in wins, because every one of them adds to the Sugar Rush meter.
The meter and the spells
When the Sugar Rush meter reaches a set number of symbols in a round, features are released. The studio describes three spells that the alchemist casts to refresh the grid and create new winning chances.

A spell that shuffles the candies already on the grid, rearranging them into new positions that may form fresh clusters without any new symbols arriving.
Sweet Surprise
A spell that turns between 7 and 12 candies wild, giving the grid a large set of substitutes that can link neighbouring symbols into winning clusters.
Sugar Bomb
A spell that blasts away between 7 and 15 candies. New symbols drop in to fill the space, creating another chance for clusters to form.
Chocolate bonus and treasure chest
Collecting candies of two different sorts opens the chocolate-covered bonus round. You select chocolate pips until three matching elixirs appear, and those elixirs show the prize. There are three levels, each with a better chance of a larger prize, and the payouts run from two to ten times the bet.
Playing the bonus three times unlocks the treasure chest. It pays an extra prize equal to 15% of everything won in the main game since the chest was last opened. That feature rewards continued play in a literal sense, which is worth keeping in mind: it is a reason the game encourages longer sessions, not a reason to extend yours.
Chocolate bonus round
Triggered by collecting two different kinds of candy. Pick chocolate pips until three matching elixirs reveal a prize between two and ten times the bet, across three levels with rising chances.
Treasure chest
Unlocked after three bonus rounds. It adds a prize worth 15% of all main-game winnings accumulated since the previous time the chest opened.
