Super Flip review

The idea is in the name. In Super Flip's free spins the reels are flipped, so the last reel goes first and the first goes last, and the studio says this raises the chance of a big win. Play'n GO released the slot in 2015. It has a plain Wild and a SUPER FLIP scatter, a near-win respin on the middle reel and an optional card gamble. Volatility is Medium, and five RTP versions are on record.

Wild and scatter

Super Flip uses two special symbols. The Wild, marked WILD, substitutes for every symbol except the scatter. The scatter, marked SUPER FLIP, triggers the free spins when three or more land on the reels. All symbols can appear on all reels in the main game, in the free spins and in the near-win respin. Winnings from features, bonus games and scatters are added to payline wins.

Free spins with flipped reels

During the free spins the reel order is reversed. The round can be retriggered by three or more SUPER FLIP scatters landing at the same time, and each retrigger adds 15 spins, up to a total of 90. The text we hold does not state how many spins the first trigger awards, so check the rules in the demo.

Near-win respin

Happens when the first reel shows a full stack of any symbol, the second reel shows a full stack of the same symbol (wilds included), and no win is achieved on any active payline or scatter. The middle reel respins while the others are locked. The free spins feature can itself be triggered by this respin.

Gamble round

After a win you can press GAMBLE and guess the colour or suit of a face-down card. A correct colour doubles the prize and a correct suit quadruples it. The round can be played up to five times in a row, up to a limit of 2500 coins.

Five RTP versions

The top version is 96.53%, a house edge of 3.47% and about $34.70 lost per $1,000 wagered. The four lower ones are 94.51%, 91.56%, 87.53% and 84.57%, with edges of 5.49%, 8.44%, 12.47% and 15.43%. They cost $54.90, $84.40, $124.70 and $154.30 per $1,000.

Over 100 spins at $0.20 the cost is $0.69 on the top version and $3.09 on the lowest. At $1 it is $3.47 against $15.43, and at $5 ($500 wagered) $17.35 against $77.15. No max win or hit frequency is published, and Medium volatility is the main guide to how results might spread.

A note on the gamble

Gambling a prize is a separate bet on top of the slot, and every attempt can lose what you won on that spin. The slot's RTP does not describe the gamble. If you use it at all, treat the winnings as already spent entertainment.

Peers from the same period

Pimped, Royal Masquerade and Spin Party all list 96.51% from 2015, Wild North 96.55% and Eye of the Kraken 96.42%. Holiday Season from 2016 also lists 96.51%. Every one is rated Medium.

Pros

  • Flipped reels in the free spins
  • Retriggers add 15 spins each, up to a total of 90
  • Near-win respin can even trigger the free spins
  • Free official demo available

Cons

  • Five RTP versions, the lowest with a 15.43% house edge
  • Gamble round can lose the prize
  • No max win or hit frequency in our catalogue

Verdict

Super Flip is a classic-style slot with a clear hook: flipped reels in the free spins, which can run to 90 spins in total. It lists a 96.53% RTP at the top version and Medium volatility, with versions down to 84.57%. The gamble round adds risk of its own. Check the version, set a limit and try the demo first.
