Burning Stars review

Burning Stars borrows its look from the classic fruit machine and its name from the night sky. Wazdan released it in 2014 with card symbols from 9 to Ace, burning sevens, a star scatter that pays from any position and a gamble button that can double a win up to seven times. There are no free spins or multipliers in the studio's description, which keeps the design deliberately plain.

Symbols and the star scatter

The paytable mixes six card ranks, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King and Ace, with burning sevens in the role of the traditional high symbol. That combination is typical of retro designs, where the screen stays easy to read and wins are judged at a glance.

The shining star is the scatter. It does not need to sit on a line: at least three stars anywhere on the reels pay a cash prize. The studio does not publish the prize values, the number of lines or the reel layout, and our pack holds no official rules, so those details belong to the game's own help screen.

The gamble option

After a win, the gamble function offers a chance to double it, and the step can be repeated up to seven times in a row. Wazdan does not describe the mechanism in our source, for example whether it is a card colour guess or something else.

Whatever the format, a gamble is optional and puts the win just collected at stake. Doubling seven times would turn a small prize into a much larger one, but each step risks losing the full amount, so it adds swings to a game whose base volatility is moderate.

Numbers on record

Burning Stars lists one RTP: 96.5%, which corresponds to a 3.5% house edge. Put another way, the expected long-run cost is $35 on $1,000 of total bets. Sessions of 100 spins average $0.70 at a $0.20 bet, $3.50 at $1 and $17.50 at $5.

Volatility is Medium, and no max win is published. There is no free official demo in our data.

Burning Stars 3 and other 2014 releases

Burning Stars 3, from 2021, takes a very different line: a lower 96.12% RTP with a Very high volatility rating. From the original's own year, Magic Poker lists 96.61%, Fenix Play 96.44% and Magic Fruits 81 96.42%, all rated Medium.

The original suits players who want a familiar three-element design, line wins, scatters and an optional gamble, at a moderate risk level. It offers little to anyone who wants a bonus round.

Pros

  • Star scatters pay from any position
  • Simple retro layout that is easy to read
  • 96.5% RTP, a 3.5% house edge or $35 per $1,000 wagered

Cons

  • No free spins or bonus round described
  • The gamble can wipe out a win on any of its seven steps
  • No max win, paytable values or free demo in our data

Verdict

Burning Stars is a straightforward retro slot: card symbols, burning sevens, star scatters that pay anywhere and an optional gamble of up to seven doublings. Its RTP is 96.5% and volatility is Medium, but the published detail is thin and there is no bonus round to speak of. Read the in-game paytable first, skip the gamble if you prefer to keep wins, and stay within budget.
