Steamin’ Reels review

All aboard for a Western-themed 2026 release from Pragmatic Play. Steamin' Reels is a 5x3 slot where a locomotive rolls beneath the grid during the bonus, pulling carriages full of prizes. The base game has an unusual helper too: even when no scatters land at all, a signalman can step in and turn symbols into scatters.

Getting on the train

Three, four or five scatters trigger the bonus with up to 20 free spins. There are two safety nets built into the base game. If a spin shows no scatters, the signalman can randomly appear and convert three symbols into scatters, unlocking the feature. If two scatters land, there is a chance that a third arrives to grant entry.

The train feature

In the bonus, a locomotive appears under the grid and pulls carriages loaded with golden tickets or money symbols worth up to 500x. Three of the carriages are in view at any moment. When level crossing or station master symbols land on the reels, the prizes shown on those carriages are awarded. The station master also boosts wins by up to 5x. The train then moves on and reveals more prizes. Since the prizes are shown on the carriages, you can see what a level crossing or station master landing would be worth before it happens.

Signalman

A base-game helper that can appear when no scatters land, converting three symbols into scatters to unlock the bonus. It also helps when a spin shows two scatters, giving a chance of a third.

Golden tickets

Carriages can carry golden tickets. Collecting three in the meter during the bonus adds 10 more spins and lifts the total multiplier to 2x. A third trigger raises it to 5x and a fourth to 10x.

Costs and limits

Steamin' Reels has one recorded RTP of 96.53%, a house edge of 3.47%. That is about $34.70 per $1,000 wagered on average. Over 100 spins, the average loss is $0.69 at $0.20, $3.47 at $1 and $17.35 at $5, or $500 wagered.

Our catalogue lists no volatility label or max win. The 500x and 10x figures are limits on single prizes and the multiplier, and should not be confused with a cap on the whole round.

More 2026 titles at 96.53%

Big Bass Vegas 1000, Eastern Fury, Emerald King - Wheel of Wealth, Heartbreakers, Hot Tuna and Lucky Drums 88 all show the same 96.53% RTP and a 2026 release. The spread in return is nil, so a choice between them comes down to the bonus design.

Pros

  • The signalman gives a second route into the bonus when no scatters land
  • Prizes of up to 500x are displayed on the carriages before they are awarded
  • Total multiplier can climb from 2x to 10x with repeated golden ticket triggers
  • Free official demo available

Cons

  • Volatility and max win are not published in our catalogue
  • The bonus has several moving parts: carriages, tickets, a meter and a changing multiplier

Verdict

Steamin' Reels is a feature-rich slot with an unusual bonus, where visible prizes are collected as the train moves and extra triggers raise the multiplier. The 96.53% RTP gives a 3.47% house edge. The studio gives no volatility rating, so use the free demo to watch a few bonus rounds first and to see whether the extra-spin mechanics are worth the complexity for you.
