Rabid Randy review
Rabid Randy is a slot about saving up. Every Paw that lands in the base game adds points to a meter, and every 200 points push a free spins multiplier one step up a ladder that runs from x1 to x1000. That multiplier waits, unused, until free spins finally end. NetEnt released the game in 2024 on a five-reel grid shaped 3, 4, 5, 4, 3, with a shadowy hunter-and-beast forest theme and High volatility.
Frames, Hot Paws and Wilds
When a Paw lands, it marks its position with a trap-shaped Frame and leaves the reels. A Paw can randomly become a Hot Paw, and then its Frame turns into an Active Frame.
At the end of the next spin, the Active Frame becomes a Wild. Any Frames next to it, and Frames next to those, turn into Wilds as well, so a cluster of Frames can convert in one go. Frames wait on the reels until they become Wilds or free spins Trophies, while the Wilds themselves vanish at the start of the following spin.
The collect meter
This is the part of the game that carries over between spins, and it shapes the whole experience.
Collect meter and Free Spins Multiplier
A Paw on an empty spot adds 1 point; on a Frame or Active Frame it adds between 1 and 4. At 200 points the multiplier climbs one step: x1, x2, x3, x5, x7, x10, x12, x15, x20, x30, x40, x50, x75, x100, x200, x300, x500, x750 and x1000. The meter then resets, with surplus points carried over.
Free Spins
Three Rabid Randy symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4 award 3 free spins. Frames left from the triggering round become Trophies worth 0.5x to 50x the bet. Every empty position spins on its own, only Trophies can land, and each new Trophy sticks and resets the count to 3. At the end, the total is multiplied by the collected multiplier.
How the bonus ends
Free spins finish when the counter reaches zero or when every position is filled. A full board awards an extra x2 and doubles the final value of the multiplier. Afterwards, the multiplier returns to x1.
The meter is handled carefully. If the multiplier is still climbing, the meter keeps the points it had when free spins began. If it already reached x1000 in the base game, the meter stays full and stops collecting until free spins are triggered, then resets to zero after the round.
The practical point is timing. A bonus that arrives soon after the previous one will usually carry a low multiplier, while one that comes after a long base-game stretch may carry a high one. The multiplier is only applied once, at the end of the round.
Price of play
NetEnt lists one RTP, 96.13%. The house edge is 3.87%, which works out to about $38.70 lost per $1,000 wagered on average. For 100 spins, expect around $0.77 at $0.20, $3.87 at $1 and $19.35 at $5.
The max payout is 1,200x the bet: $240 at $0.20, $1,200 at $1 and $6,000 at $5. That cap is the binding limit whatever the multiplier ladder shows. Hit frequency is 18%. A feature buy-in is listed on the studio page, without a price in our data.

Pros
- Base-game Paws build a multiplier that climbs as far as x1000
- Frames turn into chains of Wilds, adding interest to ordinary spins
- Trophy free spins reset to 3 with every new Trophy
- Full board doubles the final multiplier
Cons
- 1,200x max payout caps what the multiplier ladder can deliver
- High volatility, with value saved for one moment at the end of free spins
- No free demo listed in our data
Verdict
Rabid Randy rewards long-term attention: Paws feed a meter, the meter climbs a ladder from x1 to x1000, and the result is applied once to a Trophy-filled free spins round. It is an inventive structure with High volatility and an 18% hit rate. The RTP is 96.13% with a 3.87% house edge, and the 1,200x cap is the real ceiling. Set the budget before chasing the meter.
