Golden Egg Invaders review
NetEnt's April 2025 release sends an invasion at a humble farm, and the goal is to collect eggs. Some of them hatch into Golden Eggs that turn nearby positions wild, and every egg you gather feeds a meter that raises the free spins multiplier towards x10. The result is a two-stage game: the base game builds the multiplier, and the free spins cash it in. It is rated High volatility with a 2,200x top prize.
Eggs, frames and wilds in the base game
The studio lists the grid as 5x5 with a row pattern of 3, 4, 5, 4 and 3, and 20 paylines. Bets run from €0.10 to €300.00. When an egg lands on the reels, it is marked with a frame. If it becomes a Golden Egg, the frame turns into an Active Frame. After the next spin, the Active Frame and the frames next to it turn into wilds. Frames stay until they become wilds or the free spins start, and wilds vanish at the start of the following spin.
Collect meter
In the main game, an egg landing on an empty position or an Active Frame is collected and adds 1 point to the meter. An egg landing on a Frame or Active Frame adds a random 1 to 4 points instead. At 200 points the free spins multiplier steps up towards x10 and the meter resets, with any excess carried over. At x10 it stays full until the free spins begin.
How the free spins play
Three scatters on reels 2, 3 and 4 trigger the round, which starts with 3 spins. Frames and Active Frames that did not turn wild remain as eggs before the first spin. During the round only eggs land on the reels, and each new egg resets the spin counter to 3. All eggs become Golden Eggs, revealing prizes between 0.5 and 50 times the bet.
The round ends when the counter hits 0 or when every position is filled. The total win is multiplied by the free spins multiplier earned in the main game, and a filled reel adds an extra x2 multiplier. The multiplier then resets to x1 and the meter returns to 0. That is why the base game feeds the bonus: a higher multiplier at the moment of the trigger is worth more than a lower one.
