Turn Your Fortune review
Turn Your Fortune is styled after French Art Nouveau, with gold decor and a tower to climb. The idea behind it is a coin win ladder. Collecting symbols moves you up steps, a key symbol raises the level, and the same ladder runs in two different bonus rounds. NetEnt released it in 2019 on a 5x4 grid with 40 lines. The ceiling is 2,000x the bet, and the studio says both bonus features can trigger on the same bet.
How the Fortune Wins ladder works
Fortune Wins is a coin win game that appears in both the Fortune Re-Spins and the Free Spins. It has 5 levels, each with 5 steps whose win values increase. You start on the lowest step and move up by collecting symbols on the reels.
The Key symbol is the second route upward. When a key lands, the Fortune Wins level rises, and that boosts every win, including the one on the current step. The ladder therefore has two axes: steps within a level, and levels themselves.
Fortune Re-Spins
Two scatters combined with a bet line win in the main game start this feature. The symbol that formed the win becomes the collectable symbol for the whole round, and from then on only collectable symbols and keys can appear on the reels.
Collectables stay until the end and fill the Fortune Wins meter. Every time the meter fills by 5 spaces, you advance one step. The re-spins end when no more key or collectable symbols land, or after 20 collectables have been collected. The studio puts the top prize of this feature at 200x.
Free Spins and the wheel
Three scatters in the main game trigger the Free Spins, and each extra scatter grants one more free spin. Before the round starts, you stop a 3-tier Free Spins Wheel. It decides three things: the number of free spins, from 7 to 13, the collectable symbol, and the starting Fortune Wins level, which can be 2, 3 or 4.
In the free spins, collectables fill the meter as before, and a special +10 symbol fills it by 10 spaces. Each time the meter fills by 20 spaces you move one step up the ladder, a bigger distance than in the re-spins. The studio says the free spins can reach 2000x, which matches the max win.
Free Spins Wheel
Stopped by the player before the free spins begin. The three tiers set the spin count (7 to 13), the collectable symbol and the starting level (2, 3 or 4).
+10 symbol
A special symbol in the free spins that fills the Fortune Wins meter by 10 spaces in one go, helping the climb to the next step.
Costs and ceilings
Turn Your Fortune has one RTP on record, 96.24%. The house edge is 3.76%, about $37.60 lost per $1,000 wagered over a long run. A session of 100 spins costs $0.75 on average at $0.20, $3.76 at $1 and $18.80 at $5.
The max win is 2,000x the bet: $400 at $0.20, $2,000 at $1 and $10,000 at $5. The listed hit frequency is 24% and the volatility is High. Bets run from €0.20 to €200.00.
Where it fits
Several High volatility games sit close by. Wild Water lists 96.36% with 2,200x, Dazzle Me Christmas 96.21% with 2,200x and Golden Egg Invaders 96.13% with 2,200x. Elk Hunter matches the 2,000x ceiling at 96.1%. RAGE from 2024 shows 96.08% and 1,800x, and Golden Realms 96.07% with 2,200x.
Pros
- Two bonus rounds share one understandable ladder
- Free Spins Wheel lets the player set the start level at 2, 3 or 4
- A 96.24% RTP, higher than five of the six similar games listed
- Both bonus features can trigger on the same bet, according to the studio
Cons
- Max win of 2,000x is lower than the 2,200x of several similar games
- High volatility with a 24% hit frequency
- The ladder has levels and steps, which takes a few rounds to read
Verdict
Turn Your Fortune is built around one idea and uses it twice, which keeps it easier to follow than many bonus-heavy slots. The 96.24% RTP gives a 3.76% house edge, about $37.60 per $1,000, and the High volatility is matched by a 2,000x ceiling. It suits players who like a visible progress meter more than random jumps. Keep in mind the cost per session and set a limit before starting.
