Big Bass Return to the Races review

Big Bass Return to the Races sends the fishing series back to the track in 2025. Its twist is a choice settled by chance: after the scatters land, the player selects one of 12 cards at random, and that decides which of two free spins features is played. One feature collects money values with wilds, while the other empties the grid down to money symbols, wilds and blanks. Both can level up with every fourth wild.

How the bonus is reached

Three to five scatters award free spins. Two scatters on the reels have a chance of adding a third, which triggers the bonus as well. Once the bonus starts, the player selects one of 12 cards at random, and the card decides whether the round is Free Spins or Golden Cup Free Spins.

The two bonus modes

The number of spins differs between the modes. In Free Spins, three, four or five scatters give 10, 15 or 20 spins. Golden Cup Free Spins always begins with 10 spins, whatever the scatter count.

Free Spins

Wild symbols collect the values of all money symbols currently on the grid. More money symbols on screen when a wild lands therefore means more for that wild to gather.

Golden Cup Free Spins

The grid is emptied, and only money symbols, wilds and blanks remain on the reels. With the ordinary symbols gone, each spin is about money symbols and the wilds that meet them.

Wild levels

In either mode, every fourth wild awards 10 extra spins at a higher win level. The levels go 2x first, then 3x, and finally 10x on the fourth level. The studio describes the third level only as part of that sequence, so check the game screen for it.

RTP and the cost of a session

The catalogue lists one RTP, 96.07%, with a house edge of 3.93%. That is about $39.30 lost per $1,000 wagered. A hundred spins cost $0.79 on average at $0.20, $3.93 at $1 and $19.65 at $5. Volatility and max win are not published in our data, so the games it is compared with below are matched on RTP and year only.

The series and similar games

Three other titles share the 96.07% figure: Big Bass Christmas - Frozen Lake from 2025, and Big Bass Day at the Races and Big Bass Floats My Boat, both from 2024. Triple Pot Gold lists 96.02% with a 5,000x max win. Pig Farm and Wisdom of Athena 1000 Xmas sit at 96%. A free demo of Return to the Races is available.

Pros

  • A random card pick decides between two different free spins modes
  • Every fourth wild adds 10 spins and a higher multiplier level
  • Two scatters can pull in a third to trigger the bonus
  • Free official demo available

Cons

  • No volatility or max win in our catalogue
  • The bonus mode depends on a random card, not on a free choice
  • Most of the value sits in the bonus

Verdict

Big Bass Return to the Races builds its appeal on one chance event, the card that decides between Free Spins and Golden Cup Free Spins. With 96.07% RTP and a 3.93% house edge, the numbers are plain, and the missing volatility label is a reason to use the free demo before staking anything. Remember that the 10x level is a top step, not a typical result.
