Wolf Gold Ultimate review

Wolf Gold Ultimate is a 2024 follow-up to the original Wolf Gold, which our catalogue lists for 2017. Mustangs, mountain lions and wolf wilds cross the North American prairies, but the real change is in the bonus. Instead of one respin grid, the hold and respin round can open up to four, which stretches the number of cash prizes in play to as many as 50.

The hold and respin bonus

Landing six or more cash moon icons starts the hold and respin round, with three respins. Every cash value that lands resets the counter to three, so the round keeps going for as long as new values arrive.

What is new is the extra grids. Landing two moons reveals a second grid, 11 reveals a third and 25 reveals a fourth. The studio puts the maximum at 50 cash prizes across all the grids. The thresholds of two, 11 and 25 moons form a ladder: the first extra grid is easy to reach, while the fourth needs a very full round. That is our reading of the numbers, not a statement from the studio.

Cash moons and extra grids

Six cash icons start the respin round with three spins. Moon symbols that land unlock three extra grids, for up to 50 cash prizes in total. Each new cash value puts the respin counter back to three.

Jackpots

Mini, Minor, Major and Grand jackpots are part of the feature. The studio states that they can award 5,000x max wins. That is the figure we pass on, as the catalogue itself records no max win.

Return and costs

The only recorded RTP is 96.5%, a 3.5% house edge. On average, $1,000 wagered costs $35. A 100-spin session costs on average $0.70 at $0.20, $3.50 at $1 and $17.50 at $5, which means $500 wagered.

Volatility is not published in our catalogue.

Against the original

The original Wolf Gold from 2017 has a recorded RTP of 96.01%, so this newer version returns a little more on paper, at 96.5%. Several other 2024 releases share that figure, including Badge Blitz, Barnyard Megahays Megaways and Big Bass Bonanza - Reel Action.

Who it suits

The structure is simple to follow: a trigger, a counter that resets and extra grids that appear as moons land. It suits those who like respin rounds and want to see a bonus grow in stages. Anyone who prefers frequent small wins should look at the demo first, because the rules say little about how often the bonus starts.

Pros

  • Up to four respin grids with as many as 50 cash prizes
  • Respin counter resets to three on every new cash value
  • Four jackpot levels, with a studio-stated 5,000x top prize
  • Free official demo available

Cons

  • Six cash icons are needed to start the bonus, and the rules give no frequency
  • Volatility is not published, and the 5,000x top prize comes from studio text

Verdict

Wolf Gold Ultimate keeps the prairie look of its predecessor and rebuilds the bonus around extra grids. Its 96.5% RTP carries a 3.5% house edge, and the 5,000x top prize is a studio figure, not a catalogue max win. With no volatility label, the free demo is the sensible place to see how often the respin round starts and how far the extra grids open.
