The Wish Master Megaways review

The Wish Master Megaways rebuilds NetEnt's genie game on a 6x7 Megaways board with 117,649 ways. The core idea is an inventory. When a lamp lights up, the genie places a feature in a three-slot store, and each stored feature stays active for five spins. Several can run together, and two of them multiply wins. At 96.07% RTP and a 27,018x ceiling, the stakes of that stacking are high.

How the genie's inventory works

A special magic lamp symbol, with a maximum of one per reel, ignites the genie lamp and summons the Wish Master. He adds one of four features to your inventory, and the inventory holds at most three at once. Each feature lasts for five consecutive spins.

Two rules decide how long a feature really lives. If a new feature is activated while the inventory is full, the oldest one is replaced. And every new activation resets the spin counter to five for all the features in the inventory, so a fresh lamp also extends the ones already running.

The four wishes

The studio's introduction groups them as extra wilds, wild reels and multipliers. The rules describe four effects, which we label by what they do.

Premium symbols turn wild

One of the two highest-paying symbols becomes wild whenever it appears during the feature spins.

Wild Reel

The special symbol fills a whole reel with wilds and locks it as a Wild Reel for all of the feature spins.

Win Multiplier

Raises all Megaways wins by x2 or x3 for the feature spins. If both multipliers are active together, a total x6 applies to the ways wins.

Random Wilds

Each feature spin brings 2 to 5 random wilds onto the reels, according to the rules.

What stacking can do

Nothing stops several wishes running at once, since the inventory holds three. A Wild Reel, random wilds and a x3 multiplier together would act on the same spins. That is an inference from the rules and not a studio promise, but it shows where the ceiling comes from: the game rewards a full inventory, and the five-spin reset makes it easier to keep it full.

It also means the base spins between lamps matter less than the stretch while features are active.

Return, hit frequency and ceiling

The recorded RTP is 96.07%, so the house edge is 3.93%. That works out at about $39.30 per $1,000 wagered. A hundred spins cost about $0.79 at a $0.20 bet, $3.93 at $1 and $19.65 at $5.

The listed hit frequency is 20.48%, which means about one spin in five returns a win, and volatility is Very high. The max win is 27,018x the bet: $5,403.60 at $0.20, $27,018 at $1 and $135,090 at $5. Bets on the studio's page run from EUR 0.10 to EUR 20.00.

The original and other Megaways titles

The original The Wish Master from 2014 lists 96.64% RTP, High volatility and a 2,200x max win. The Megaways version lists a lower return, a far higher ceiling and Very high volatility.

Among similar games, Jelly Belly Megaways lists 96.08% and 20,000x, Mummy Megaways 96.2% and 16,321x, Space Wars Megaways XXXtreme 96.16% and 14,400x, Dazzle Me Megaways (2021) 96.1% and 13,400x, Wild Turkey Megaways 96.05% and 7,239x and Twin Spin Megaways (2020) 96.04% and 4,900x. The Wish Master Megaways has the highest ceiling of the group.

Pros

  • 117,649 ways and a 27,018x max win
  • Inventory of up to three features, with a five-spin reset on every new activation
  • Two multipliers can combine to x6
  • Free official demo available

Cons

  • Very high volatility, and a lower RTP than the 2014 original
  • Most of the value depends on stacking features, which needs several lamps
  • The studio text names the four wishes only by effect

Verdict

The Wish Master Megaways is a feature-stacking slot: lamps feed an inventory of up to three wishes, each lasting five spins, with multipliers that can reach x6. The 96.07% RTP and Very high volatility match its 27,018x ceiling, and the 3.93% house edge is a real cost over time. If the inventory system sounds confusing, the free demo shows it in a few minutes.
