Judgement Day Megaways review

The four horsemen ride onto a Megaways grid in this 2023 Red Tiger slot. Each horseman is a separate feature, and the game is built around who gets summoned and when. In the base game a wild can call one of them. In the free spins the choice is made before the round begins and then runs on every spin. The catalogue lists a 95.71% RTP, a Very high volatility label and a headline 100,000x max win.

Two kinds of wild

Skull Wilds and Seal Wilds both substitute for all paying symbols. The difference is that a Seal Wild summons a demon horseback rider, and the rider triggers one of four features. The game runs on a six-reel Megaways layout with up to 117,649 ways, and each rider changes the board in its own way.

Conquest

Arrows rain down on the reels and turn the symbols they hit into wilds where they land.

War

Up to 7 symbols are cut in half, which increases the number of ways to win on that spin.

Famine

Two random reels are selected. The symbol count of each one is applied as a symbol multiplier to the other.

Death

Drags down one or two reels at random, revealing up to 3 Skull Wilds that carry a symbol multiplier. The multiplier grows gradually with each new wild that is revealed.

Free spins and the Judgement phase

Three free spins scatters start the round with 8 free spins. Before the first spin, the game enters a Judgement phase and randomly selects one of the four riders. That rider then activates its feature on every spin of the round.

Landing three more scatters during the free spins adds 4 spins and opens another Judgement selection, where a further rider can be chosen. Retriggers can happen while there are still riders left to activate. So the round can start with one active feature and grow, up to the full set of four.

Feature Buy

The studio offers two purchases. One buys a random rider on the current spin for 10x the bet. The other buys three free spins scatters for 90x the bet, which puts you straight into the Judgement phase. Both costs are a multiple of the bet, so they add to the total outlay, not to the return.

The numbers

Judgement Day Megaways has one RTP on record, 95.71%. The house edge is 4.29%, or about $42.90 lost per $1,000 wagered, with a hit frequency of 32.59%.

A 100-spin session costs $0.86 at a $0.20 bet, $4.29 at $1 and $21.45 at $5. The 100,000x max win equals $20,000 at $0.20, $100,000 at $1 and $500,000 at $5. Treat those as the outer limit of a Very high volatility game, not an expectation.

Where it sits among Megaways titles

No earlier game from the franchise is listed. Six comparable Very high Megaways slots all sit between 95.68% and 95.77% RTP. Gonzo's Quest Megaways tops that list at 95.77%, with a 20,972x max win. Egypt Megaways reaches 34,104x, and Buffalo Mania Megaways stops at 19,995x. With RTPs so close together, the real difference is the top prize: 100,000x here.

Pros

  • 100,000x max win, the highest in the group of similar games
  • Four different rider features, with a choice made before free spins
  • Retriggers add 4 spins and another rider
  • Free official demo available

Cons

  • 95.71% RTP means a 4.29% house edge
  • Very high volatility
  • Feature Buy costs 10x or 90x the bet

Verdict

Judgement Day Megaways is a feature-led Megaways slot where four riders alter the grid, and the free spins build on them through the Judgement phase. The 95.71% RTP is in line with similar games, while the 100,000x max win is far higher. Very high volatility and a 4.29% house edge mean it is a game to try on the free demo first, with small bets.
