Dragons' Lock review

Dragons' Lock is about keys and chests. Red Tiger's 2025 release has Dragon Keys land on reels 1, 3 and 5 and use them to open up to three chests of instant prizes, each tier richer than the last. Add free spins where keys appear more often, and the result is a game that pays out in small cash steps. The hit frequency is listed at 59.66%, while the top prize is 7,661x.

Keys and chests

Dragon Chests give instant cash prizes expressed as stake multipliers. At the start only the first chest is unlocked. Landing Dragon Keys progresses towards the other two: 5 keys unlock the second chest and 5 more unlock the third. The chests carry 1, 2 and 3 padlocks respectively.

Once the chests are open, keys do the opening. A key that lands opens the chest it corresponds to and pays the prize. Before the second chest is unlocked, extra keys open the first. Once it is available, 3 keys landing together open both. When all three are unlocked, each key opens its own chest.

Dragon Chest prizes

The first chest pays 3x, 4x, 5x, 7x or 10x the stake. The second pays 15x, 20x, 25x, 30x or 50x, and the third 75x, 100x, 150x, 200x or 250x. Prize value therefore rises sharply with each unlocked tier.

Key multipliers

Dragon Keys can carry 2x, 3x, 5x, 10x or 20x, and the multiplier applies to the prize of the chest that key opens. If several multiplier keys open the same chest, their multipliers are added together.

Free spins

Three free spins scatters on reels 2, 3 and 4 trigger 10 free spins. If three more scatters land during the bonus, 10 additional spins are awarded. Dragon Keys have a higher chance of landing during the round, so chest prizes should come round more often during the bonus.

A game of frequent, bounded prizes

The hit frequency of 59.66% means most spins return something. Yet the base prizes of the first chest top out at 10x, so a typical hit is small. The 7,661x ceiling needs several multiplier keys and high-tier chests to coincide, which is an inference from the prize table and not a stated route.

Volatility is rated High, which fits that picture: frequent small returns with a long tail.

Return and cost

One RTP is recorded, 95.8%, so the house edge is 4.2% and $1,000 wagered loses $42 on average. A 100-spin session costs $0.84 at $0.20, $4.20 at $1 and $21 at $5, where $500 is wagered. The max win of 7,661x equals $1,532.20 at $0.20, $7,661 at $1 and $38,305 at $5.

Pros

  • Three tiers of Dragon Chests with instant stake-multiple prizes
  • Key multipliers of 2x to 20x are added together on the same chest
  • Hit frequency of 59.66%
  • Free official demo available

Cons

  • RTP of 95.8% means a house edge of 4.2%
  • First-chest prizes are small, 3x to 10x
  • High volatility despite the high hit frequency

Verdict

Dragons' Lock turns a slot into a key-and-chest collection game: 5 keys per unlocked tier, prizes from 3x to 250x and key multipliers up to 20x. Its 95.8% RTP carries a 4.2% house edge, volatility is High and the hit frequency is 59.66%. The 7,661x ceiling is a ceiling and not an expectation. Try the free demo and set a budget first.
