MONOPOLY Money Line review

The headline mechanic here is a train. During a random re-spin round a Walking Wild enters the reels as the front of the train, pulls carts behind it and leaves wilds, multipliers and scatters on the grid as it passes. The free spins swap the usual symbols for coloured streets whose multipliers are gathered by a collector chest. NetEnt lists the game as Very high volatility with a top win of 10,078x the bet.

The Walking Wild train

Re-spins can switch on at random in the main game. When they do, the train enters from a position near the edge of the play area. Before each re-spin it moves one step in any direction until it leaves the reels. It cannot loop or cross its own path, so its route is a single trail across the grid.

Carts attach to the train and show up on the reels as it moves further in. A cart can hold regular wilds, wilds carrying x2 or x5 multipliers, and a scatter. When the train exits, one final re-spin is played with all carts still on the reels. Wins from the re-spins are added to the wins of the round that started them, and every re-spin is played at the same bet as that round.

Cart contents

Each cart may hold a regular wild, a wild with a x2 or x5 multiplier, or a scatter. Wilds substitute for the other symbols, and the game pays the highest possible combination on a line.

Free spins: streets and a collector

Three scatters on reels 2, 3 and 4 award 3 free spins on a 5x5 play area. If three scatters appear during re-spins, the free spins are played once the re-spins end.

Only a small set of symbols can land in this round: green, pink, orange and blue street symbols, a collector chest and a golden ticket. Street and collector symbols stay on the reels until the end. Any street, collector or golden ticket that lands resets the spins counter to 3, so the round continues as long as something keeps landing.

Street multipliers

A street carries the multiplier of one house. Green streets are x1, pink x2, orange x3 and blue x5. They are the building blocks of the round, because the collector reads their values.

Collector chest

When it lands, it gathers the multipliers of every symbol on the reels and takes the total as its own multiplier. The symbols keep their multipliers after being collected. The collector can only land while street symbols are on the reels, or on the spin where the first street appears.

Golden ticket

A golden ticket brings a train to the bottom of the reels. Its carts hold from 3 to 15 prizes, all released when the train arrives, after which it leaves. The list of train prizes is not covered by the studio text we hold, so check the official page for it.

Reading the maths

One RTP is on record, 96.18%, a house edge of 3.82%. That works out to about $38.20 lost per $1,000 wagered over a long run. A session of 100 spins costs $0.76 on average at $0.20, $3.82 at $1 and $19.10 at $5.

The max win is 10,078x the bet: $2,015.60 at $0.20, $10,078 at $1 and $50,390 at $5. With a hit frequency of 33.24%, roughly one spin in three pays something, though the large outcomes sit in the multiplier features. Very high volatility means a short session can end far from the average.

Similar numbers elsewhere

Dragons Playground and Fruit Shop Frenzy share the 96.18% RTP, with max wins of 10,611x and 10,868x. Pandora's Treasure lists 96.13% with 10,368x, Space Wars 2 Powerpoints 96.1% with 10,000x, Demon Beats 96.08% with 10,000x and Piggy Riches 3: Hog Heaven 96.06% with 10,300x. All carry the same Very high rating.

Pros

  • Walking Wild train leaves wilds, x2 and x5 multipliers behind
  • Free spins counter resets to 3 whenever a street, collector or golden ticket lands
  • A 33.24% hit frequency
  • Max win of 10,078x the bet

Cons

  • Very high volatility
  • Free spins start with only 3 spins, so the round relies on resets
  • Rules of the free spins are layered and take time to follow
  • The train prize list is not in our source text

Verdict

MONOPOLY Money Line gives its two features clear roles: the train adds wilds and multipliers at random in the main game, while the free spins turn street values into a collected multiplier. The 96.18% RTP carries a 3.82% house edge, about $38.20 per $1,000, and the volatility is Very high. It suits players who like a feature-heavy design and can accept uneven sessions. It does not suit anyone expecting steady returns.
