Lady Wolf Moon review
Night falls, the moon rises and a figure called Lady Wolf Moon takes the stage. BGaming's 2020 release keeps its structure classic, a 5x3 grid with line wins, but adds three ideas that shape every session: wilds that double the wins they complete, a free spins round where all wins are tripled and can retrigger without limit, and an optional card gamble after any base-game win.
Three rules to know
The studio's page lists a short set of rules, and each of them changes the maths in a visible way.
Wild multiplier
The wild replaces any symbol on a line apart from the scatter. Whenever it helps form a winning combination, that win is multiplied by 2. A line completed with a wild therefore pays double what the same line of regular symbols would pay.
Free spins
Three or more scatters award 15 free spins, and every win in the round is multiplied by 3. Landing the scatters again during the round retriggers it, and the studio says this can happen an unlimited number of times, so the length of a bonus is open-ended.
Gamble round
Offered after any win in the main game. A card is dealt face down and you guess either its colour or its suit; a correct guess doubles the win. It is optional, and declining it keeps the original amount. Each guess puts the whole win at stake.
Under the moonlight
The theme is a night-time scene in which the moon is said to hold a special kind of magic, and the title character appears as its keeper. The studio describes the game as full of surprises, but the rules above are the full list of features it publishes. The number of paylines is not stated in our source.
RTP, edge and swing
Lady Wolf Moon has a single RTP of 97.09%, so the house edge is 2.91%. Over the long term that comes to about $29.10 kept per $1,000 wagered. For 100 spins the average cost is $0.58 at $0.20, $2.91 at $1 and $14.55 at $5.
Volatility is Very high. A tripled bonus that can keep retriggering is the likely reason: a few long free spins rounds carry much of the potential, while many sessions see little of it. The studio's FAQ quotes a maximum multiplier of 4,684x the bet, worth $4,684 at $1. Our catalogue lists no max win.
The gamble deserves a separate note. It sits outside the spin itself and is never required, but each use turns a settled win into a guess on the full amount. In a game that is already rated Very high for volatility, that adds even more swing, which is why it is worth deciding in advance whether to use it at all.
MEGAWAYS and other relatives
Lady Wolf Moon MEGAWAYS came out in 2022 with a 96.75% RTP and the same Very high rating, so the original returns more. Among similar games, Book Of Cats and All Lucky Clovers, both from 2020, list 96.99% and 97%, while Savage Buffalo Spirit from 2023 lists 97.1%.
Who it suits
Patient players with a fixed budget who enjoy classic line games and do not mind waiting for the bonus. The gamble is best left alone by anyone who wants to protect small wins. Start with the free demo to see how often scatters arrive.
Pros
- 97.09% RTP, a 2.91% house edge
- Free spins triple every win and retrigger without limit
- Wilds double the wins they complete
- Free official demo available
Cons
- Very high volatility makes sessions uneven
- The optional gamble can wipe out a win
- Max win is quoted only in the studio FAQ
Verdict
Lady Wolf Moon pairs a classic 5x3 layout with doubling wilds and a bonus of 15 tripled free spins that can retrigger indefinitely. Its 97.09% RTP and 2.91% house edge are attractive, but very high volatility and an optional double-or-nothing gamble make results swing hard. The studio's stated ceiling is 4,684x. Try the demo and keep the gamble in check.
