Joker Troupe review
Push Gaming presents Joker Troupe as a modern take on the classic joker slot. The grid is small, 4x3 with 10 paylines, but the bonuses are not: three joker scatters in red, blue and green each open a different feature, and the red one runs on a clock instead of a spin count. There is also an unusual number to check before playing, because the game has two published RTP versions, 96.68% and 94.4%.
Three jokers, three features
The base game uses a 4x3 layout with 10 paylines and three joker scatter symbols. When three jokers of the same colour land on the reels, a different feature starts depending on the colour: red, blue or green.
The studio text we hold describes the features in pieces rather than as a clean list, so the review follows what it says and no more.
Sticky hats and the wheel
One of the features locks symbols in place: each Hat or Red Joker symbol that lands sticks to the reels and resets the spins left to three. With every three that land, an extra row is unlocked, which gives more multipliers for bigger wins on each hat symbol. If three Red Joker scatters land during this bonus, the game goes straight to the Red Joker feature once the Blue Joker feature has finished.
A separate wheel is filled with coin wins and two booster segments that hold multipliers and Red Jokers. The multiplier can reach x100, and wins keep coming until the same coin win segment is landed on twice. Hitting the same booster three times sends you straight to the Red Joker feature.
Hypermode Free Spins
Three Red Jokers award 20 seconds of Red Joker Free Spins, which the studio calls Hypermode. Instead of a fixed number of spins, the round is timed, and the frequency of spins increases with every Red Joker that lands. The studio says the faster it runs, the more high-paying symbols appear.
Each Red Joker also fills a meter, and when it is full the timer resets to 10 seconds. Because the round is timed, it ends when the clock does, not after a set number of spins.
Timed spins
The round starts at 20 seconds, speeds up with each Red Joker and resets the timer to 10 seconds whenever the meter fills.
Two RTP versions and what they cost
The headline RTP is 96.68%, a house edge of 3.32%. A second published version runs at 94.4%, a house edge of 5.6%, and an operator may use it instead. The operator decides which one is live, so check the game's info screen.
The difference matters. Over a long run, 96.68% costs about $33.20 per $1,000 wagered, and 94.4% costs $56. A 100-spin session at $0.20 costs $0.66 on average on the higher version and $1.12 on the lower. At $1 it is $3.32 against $5.60, and at $5 it is $16.60 against $28.
What the sources leave out
Neither our catalogue nor the studio text gives a volatility rating or a max win for Joker Troupe, so the ceiling and the swings are unknown to us. Jammin' Jars lists 96.83%, Razor Shark 96.7%, Wild Swarm 2 96.67%, Mystery Museum 96.58%, Fat Drac 96.57% and Razor Returns 96.55%. A free official demo is available.
Pros
- Three colour-coded jokers open three different features
- Wheel multiplier reaching x100
- Hypermode Free Spins speed up with every Red Joker
- Free official demo available
Cons
- A lower 94.4% RTP version exists, with a 5.6% house edge
- No volatility rating or max win published
- The feature rules are described only in pieces in the source text
Verdict
Joker Troupe takes a classic joker layout and gives each coloured scatter its own bonus, ending in a timed free spins round. The version matters more than usual: 96.68% costs about $33.20 per $1,000 wagered, and the 94.4% version costs $56. With no volatility or max win published, the risk profile is unclear. It suits players who want a novelty bonus structure. Use the free demo and check the RTP version first.
