Gigantoonz review
Gigantoonz is a 2022 Play'n GO slot that the studio presents as another chapter of its Reactoonz story. Its character is a four-stage energy meter, the Quantumeter, which fills as cascades pay and then reshapes the grid in escalating ways. Two things deserve attention before any of that. The catalogue rates the volatility as Very high, and it lists five different RTP versions, with the lowest at 84.25%, so which version you are playing matters more than usual.
Mega symbols and Quantum Wilds
Wins are formed by clusters, and the board includes Mega symbols. A Mega symbol counts as a single symbol when a win is built, but it carries a higher cluster value than a normal one. If a Mega symbol will not fit in the space available, it splits into single symbols that fill the gaps.
On spins that do not win, between five and ten Quantum Wilds may be added to the grid at random. That gives non-winning rounds a second chance to produce something. The big Gargantoonz wilds are different: the studio says they appear only when the Quantumeter has woken the creature.
The Quantumeter in four steps
Charges build up as the game plays out, and a stage fires when there are no more cascades. Each stage is tied to a total number of charges and brings a different effect to the grid.
Disintegrations (25 charges)
At 25 charges the meter starts the energy boost by removing every instance of four randomly selected symbols from the grid. Fewer symbol types remain, which tends to make matches easier to form.
Metamorphosis (50 charges)
At 50 charges randomly selected symbols are transformed into another symbol at random, and the result can include Mega symbols.
Radiation (75 charges)
Another 25 charges, making 75 in total, add up to four Mega symbols to the grid and two to five Quantum Wilds, both placed at random.
Gargantoonz (100 charges)
The final stage wakes the creature. Every Mega symbol turns into a Mega Gargantoonz, and at least three of them appear whatever else is on the grid. Each Mega Gargantoonz then splits into single Gargantoonz symbols, which are removed in the usual way.
Five RTP versions
The headline RTP is 96.25%, a house edge of 3.75%, which costs about $37.50 per $1,000 wagered. The catalogue records four lower versions: 94.25% (edge 5.75%), 91.25% (8.75%), 87.25% (12.75%) and 84.25% (15.75%). The long-run cost climbs steeply as the RTP falls.
At the lowest version, $1,000 wagered costs about $157.50 against $37.50 at the highest, more than four times as much. Over 100 spins at $0.20 the average loss is $0.75 at 96.25% and $3.15 at 84.25%. At $1 it is $3.75 against $15.75, and at $5, for $500 wagered, $18.75 against $78.75. It is worth confirming which version is live in the game's information screen.
Volatility and similar titles
Very high volatility means long stretches of small or no returns, with results concentrated in a few large rounds. The catalogue lists no max win for this game. Other 2022 titles with the same Very high rating include Champions of Mithrune, Dio Killing the Dragon and Mount M at 96.25%, and Bull in a Rodeo and Cash of Command at 96.28%.
Pros
- Four-stage Quantumeter gives the cascades a long-term build
- Mega symbols and Quantum Wilds add layers to cluster wins
- Free official demo available
Cons
- Very high volatility, so a session can pass with little return
- Five RTP versions, the lowest at 84.25% with a 15.75% house edge
- No max win in our catalogue
Verdict
Gigantoonz rewards patience: the Quantumeter turns a run of cascades into a four-stage escalation, and the volatility is rated Very high. The headline 96.25% RTP carries a 3.75% house edge, but four lower versions exist, down to 84.25%, and the gap in cost is large. Check the version before judging the game, treat it as paid entertainment, and use the free demo to see how fast the meter fills.
