Beasts of Fire review
Beasts of Fire tells a short origin story. A meteor falls on the snowy Great Plains, strikes a herd of buffalo and leaves them charged with an energy from somewhere else. Play'n GO released the game in 2021, and its mechanics follow the herd: stacks of buffalo on the reels and a reel area that grows until it offers 12,348 ways to win.
Stacks and a growing grid
The studio describes two building blocks. Buffalo Stacks place the animals in tall columns on the reels, and an expanding reel feature adds space so that the number of winning ways rises, up to 12,348 in total.
The page goes no further than that. It does not give the starting number of ways, what triggers an expansion, how free spins work if there are any, or the symbol values. Rather than guess, this review leaves those questions to the free official demo and the in-game help.
Five versions of the maths
Play'n GO lists five RTP settings for this title: 96.24%, 94.27%, 91.28%, 87.25% and 84.27%. The house edge climbs from 3.76% at the top to 15.73% at the bottom. Put in money over a very long run, $1,000 wagered costs about $37.60 at the best setting, $57.30 at 94.27%, $87.20 at 91.28%, $127.50 at 87.25% and $157.30 at the lowest.
The gap is just as visible in short play. One hundred spins at $1 cost $3.76 on average at 96.24% and $15.73 at 84.27%. At $5 a spin, $500 in total, those numbers become $18.80 and $78.65. The in-game information screen shows which version is running, and it is worth a look before the first spin.
The volatility is High; no max win or hit frequency is published.
Maximum and other 2021 titles
Beasts of Fire Maximum, released in 2024, lists 96.25% and keeps the High label. Other High-volatility 2021 releases sit very close: The Paying Piano Club at 96.26%, House of Doom 2: The Crypt at 96.25% and Fire Toad at 96.2%. Charlie Chance and the Curse of Cleopatra also lists 96.25%, while Merlin and the Ice Queen Morgana and Muerto en Mictlán both list 96.2%, all with the same High label.
Is it for you
A High rating and an expanding reel set suggest that most of the value arrives in fewer, larger results when the grid opens up. That suits players who keep stakes low and can sit through quiet stretches. Because the studio publishes so little about the features, trying the demo first is more useful here than usual.
Pros
- Expanding reels reach 12,348 ways to win
- Top RTP of 96.24%, a 3.76% house edge
- Free official demo available
Cons
- Lower RTP versions run down to 84.27%
- The studio page does not explain triggers or bonus rules
- No max win is published
Verdict
Beasts of Fire builds on Buffalo Stacks and reels that expand to 12,348 ways, wrapped in a story of meteor-charged buffalo. The best RTP is 96.24% and volatility is High, but four lower versions exist and the studio explains little of the mechanics. Confirm the version in the game, learn it on the free demo, and plan for a house edge of at least 3.76%.
