Rise of Olympus review
After defeating Cronus and the titans, three brothers split the sky, the sea and the underworld between them. Play'n GO turns Zeus, Poseidon and Hades into helpers in this 2018 release: each god can step in when he is on the grid, all three can unite to clear it, and in the free spins you choose which one stays by your side. A round multiplier and a 100x Clear the Grid bonus complete the set.
Gods at work
Play'n GO's description is short but names each feature. We list them as the studio presents them, without adding details it does not give.
Round Multiplier
Builds up the multiplier during a single spin. The studio does not publish the steps or the maximum, so the size of the boost is something to read in the paytable before playing.
Hand of God
Whichever god is present on the grid assists the player, so the help on offer depends on which of the three brothers appears. The studio does not detail each form of help in our source.
Wrath of God
Filling the charge meter triggers this feature, in which the three brothers unite to help clear the grid. It brings all three helpers together in one event.
Free Spins
At the start of the round you pick one god, who then helps on every non-winning spin. Clearing the grid during free spins awards a bonus of 100x the bet.
One game, five RTP settings
Operators can run Rise of Olympus at 96.5%, 94.51%, 91.49%, 87.5% or 84.5%. The house edge rises in step: 3.5%, 5.49%, 8.51%, 12.5% and 15.5%. Expressed per $1,000 wagered over a long run, that is about $35 at the top, then $54.90, $85.10 and $125, and $155 at the bottom.
The gap is easy to see in 100-spin sessions. At $1 a spin, the expected cost is $3.50 on the best version and $15.50 on the worst. At $5, it is $17.50 against $77.50, and at $0.20, $0.70 against $3.10. The game's info screen shows which version is running, and it is worth checking before playing.
Volatility is High. No max win is published in our data, so the 100x Clear the Grid award is the only fixed prize we can quote.
The family tree
Two follow-ups raise the risk. Rise of Olympus 100 from 2022 lists 96.2% and Rise of Olympus Origins from 2024 lists 96.29%, both rated Very high. From the same 2018 line-up with High volatility, Legacy of Egypt and Imperial Opera list 96.5%, and Gold King lists 96.53%.
Who it suits
The god mechanics give the base game more going on than a plain grid, and picking a helper in the free spins adds a small element of choice. With High volatility, though, patience and small stakes matter. Mythology fans who want a feature-rich game will feel at home; players who prefer full published rules should read the paytable first.
Pros
- Three gods, each assisting in their own way
- Choose your helper god in the free spins
- 100x bonus for clearing the grid during free spins
- 96.5% top RTP and a free official demo
Cons
- Lower RTP versions run down to 84.5%
- High volatility
- No published max win, and feature details are only outlined
Verdict
Rise of Olympus builds its play around three divine helpers, a charge meter that unleashes the Wrath of God, and free spins with a god of your choice plus a 100x Clear the Grid bonus. Volatility is High and the best RTP is 96.5%, but lower versions down to 84.5% exist, so check which one is running. A good fit for patient players with a set budget.
