Chicken Road review
Chicken Road is an instant game from InOut Games, released on 4 April 2024. A chicken crosses a road one lane at a time, and every lane crossed raises the multiplier. You can collect after any lane, but if the chicken is hit on the next one, the bet is lost. The listed RTP is 98%, a 2% house edge. Volatility and a max multiplier are not published. InOut Games runs an official free demo on its own site (inout.games); it does not play on this page.
How to play Chicken Road
A round starts when you place a bet and choose a difficulty level. You then move the chicken forward, one lane per step. Every lane safely crossed raises the multiplier shown, and the win on offer grows with it.
Whenever a lane is done you may collect. If you step again, the chicken faces the next lane, and a hit there ends the round with the bet lost. That is the whole round: one bet, one difficulty level, and a decision after each lane about whether to step again.
InOut Games describes no side bets or extra features for this game.
Chicken Road difficulty levels
The difficulty level is the one setting InOut Games describes. It is chosen before the round starts, together with the bet. Higher difficulty levels mean fewer lanes and bigger steps in the multiplier.
In plain terms, a harder level gives you a shorter road, but each lane moves the multiplier further. An easier level gives more lanes with smaller steps. The names of the levels, the lane count for each and the size of the steps are not listed by the studio, so none are quoted here.
Chicken Road demo: on the studio's site
InOut Games runs an official free demo on its own site; it does not play on this page. It is the quickest way to get a feel for the road, the levels and the collect button, since the rules are short.
The demo shows a maximum win of 10,000 USD. Treat that as a demo ceiling: each operator sets its own limits, so it does not say what any real bet can pay.
Chicken Road RTP and house edge
Chicken Road has one RTP on record, 98%. The house edge is 2%, which works out to about $20 lost per $1,000 wagered over a long run. The studio lists that figure for the game as a whole, so choosing a different difficulty level is not described as changing it.
For short sessions, 100 rounds at $0.20 mean $20 wagered and about $0.40 lost on average. At $1 the same count wagers $100 and costs about $2. At $5 it wagers $500 and costs about $10. A round can be over after a single lane, so a session can pass quickly.
Chicken Road vs Chicken Road 2
The series has one sequel, Chicken Road 2, released in 2025 with a listed RTP of 95.5%. The first game was released in 2024 with an RTP of 98%. On the numbers alone, the original is the cheaper game to play, since its 98% leaves the house with a smaller share than 95.5% does.
Both are built on lane crossing with a collect option, and both ask for a difficulty level first. The figures above are what the catalogue records for each.
Chicken Road max win and random rounds
No max multiplier is published for Chicken Road. The only cap the studio states is the demo's maximum win of 10,000 USD.
Whether the chicken is hit on a given lane is random and independent of earlier rounds. No stopping point, difficulty level or habit changes the 98% long-run return, and we do not suggest a safe lane count. Treat the game as paid entertainment and set a limit first.
Pros
- Very short rules: bet, pick difficulty, move lane by lane, collect
- RTP of 98%, a house edge of only 2%
- Difficulty levels trade lane count against step size
- Release date and RTP stated by the studio
Cons
- Volatility and max multiplier are not published
- A hit on any lane ends the round and loses the bet
- Rounds can be very short, so wagers add up fast
Verdict
Chicken Road keeps the idea as simple as an instant game can be: cross a lane, raise the multiplier, collect or lose. The 98% RTP and 2% house edge are the clear numbers, and the original is the higher-returning of the two games in the series. Volatility and a max multiplier are not published. Try the studio's free Chicken Road demo, and remember each round is random.
